Norevo offers whitening agents for dragees without titanium dioxide
The current EFSA decision to classify titanium dioxide as no longer a safe additive poses major challenges for manufacturers in food production. The use of industrially produced colour pigments in the food sector is widespread, but is also increasingly regarded as critical by consumers and included in their purchasing decisions. Norevo offers manufacturers of hard dragees a unique alternative: Quick White
Quick White is a whitening base specially developed for coating applications in the confectionery sector. It is based on specially selected dietary fibres and carbohydrates with multifunctional properties. Only ingredients that can be labelled without E-numbers are used. The special feature compared to titanium dioxide lies in its properties: Quick White is not a colour pigment and as such not a colouring raw material. During the coating process, it forms defined crystals that cause optimal light reflection and thus produce a white surface after only a few layers. Another advantage in the application of industrially automated coating with spray systems is the absence of the common blockage problem of the spray nozzles, as is the case with other titanium dioxide alternatives.
Quick White can be used in both boiling and non-cooking coating processes and offers dragee manufacturers maximum flexibility, process and recipe optimisation as well as an optimal surface, smooth and glossy in light colours or perfectly white.
